1. What's changing?
Starting Monday 14 October, we will be reinstating the option to make advance bookings for Family Fun Swim sessions at all of our pools, except Wester Hailes High School.
2. Why are we making this change?
Back in April we took the decision to remove advanced bookings for family fun sessions. This was done to bring family swim into line with many of our other activities (e.g. casual swim, gym and soft play), where bookings had been removed after COVID restrictions were lifted.
The change was designed to offer families greater flexibility of entry times and remove restrictions to how long they could swim for. However, in response to customer feedback about lengthy waiting times to get into our pools (particularly at peak times), we have decided will be reinstating the option to make advance bookings for Family Fun Swim sessions.
3. Are there any pool timetable changes?
There will be some minor changes to our pool timetables with the reintroduction of 55-minute sessions.
You can see the full revised timetable for each venue on our website and app.
In addition, there will be some adjustments to Relaxed Swimming times at the Royal Commonwealth Pool, which we'll cover in point 4.
4. What additional adjustments are being made to the Royal Commonwealth Pool timetable?
We are not reintroducing advance booking option for Relaxed Swim. There will, however, be some changes to the Relaxed Swim timetable starting from Wednesday 23 October:
As now, during school holidays we will have more shallow water casual swimming available. This includes lanes, ensuring everyone can enjoy their swim in a relaxed environment. However, our dedicated Relaxed Swim sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday will not be running during school holiday periods (including in-service days).
5. How do I attend these sessions from 14th October?
To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend that you book online or via 'Family Fun Swim Sessions’ on our mobile app for Android or iOS.
You can still drop in and pay for your session at reception or at the kiosk, however this will be subject to availability.
6. How do I book
You have to have a booking account with us to be able to book (and pay if needed) for your activity. For simple instructions on how to book an activity online, please follow our step by step guide to booking an activity.
Please ensure that you book a space for everyone in your group, including non-paying customers (e.g. under 5s), as all customers regardless of age count towards our session capacities.
You can check and ensure your group meets our adult/child ratios here , and find an overview of the different types of swim sessions we offer here.
7. How far in advance can I book?
Family Fun Sessions can be booked from 9pm 7 days in advance (or 8 days in advance if you have a membership card).
8. Can I still use my Loyalty Points?
You can still use your Loyalty Points to pay for your sessions.
Please read our Booking Terms & Conditions before finalising your booking.
